Art & Prejudice .... The Project   2010-2015

Picture

Although most of us every now and then has felt the impact of some sort of prejudice on ourselves or others, still it seems like the subject needs to be further explored to understand how extreme prejudices form and impact our societies.

Is it even possible to eliminate all forms of prejudice?

Prejudice ranges from simple day- to- day prejudgments to extreme forms such as genocide. Is prejudgment part of our natural brain function to help us make decisions and even protect us from danger?  If the answer is yes, then how much prejudgment is acceptable?  Where can we draw the line?

Fana in an attempt to shed more light on this subject has started a project to explore prejudice through dialogue and discussion. And, to bypass the pre-defined concepts and filters learned through years of our lives, Fana intends to try a more creative approach: Expressions of art.  As human beings, we all have the innate ability to see Beauty and Justice, and we can access this ability through music, paintings, sculpture, movies, and other forms of art.

Fana invites artists to express their understanding and experience of prejudice through their art.  As the first step, a virtual gallery will exhibit these artworks and create a space of dialogue.
